The impending version update will usher in the second stage of the level cap increase, bringing players' maximum attainable level from 80 to 85!
To provide a fitting challenge to players who achieve these newfound heights of power, we will be adjusting monster level and placement in certain Treasures of Aht Urhgan areas to create daunting new battlegrounds.
A host of new abilities, job traits, and spells will also be added for the newly-unlocked levels. Needless to say, these will be designed to provide players with exciting new possibilities while preserving game balance as they achieve even higher levels in the future.
New Job Abilities
- White Mage: An ability offering increased resistance against status ailments.
- Red Mage: An ability that enhances the potency of enfeebling magic.
- Bard: An ability that prevents songs cast on oneself from being overwritten.
- Beastmaster: A new pet command.
- Dragoon: A new jump.
- Summoner: New blood pacts.
- Corsair: New phantom rolls
- Dancer: A new step.
New Job Traits
- Monk: Skillchain Bonus
- White Mage: Shield Def. Bonus
- Red Mage: Mag. Burst Bonus
- Thief: Dual Wield
- Dark Knight: Crit. Atk. Bonus
- Bard: Fencer
- Ninja: Skillchain Bonus
- Corsair: True Shot
- Puppetmaster: Crit. Def. Bonus
New Spells
- Enhancement spells that increase the attributes of party members
- Magic spells to manage enmity levels
- A song that reduces damage taken by party members
- New ninjutsu
- New blue magic spells
These new abilities will be covered in further detail in future articles, so keep watching this space! _________________ I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and i'm all out of bubble gum! ~ Roddy Pipper

...........................
THF gets dual wield........
Thats..... well, it feels kinda broken.
MNK gets skillchain bonus? Like....what? SAM has that already right? =/
Nothing for pally. BLU/THF is shiny now, well except for lack of utsu shadows for solo play. Idk how the new spells fix this tho.
Spells to enhance attributes sounds kinda broken. Just a bit. Course, there were already songs to do this, they werent very long lasting. DRK also had drain-stats. Wonder if all these stack.
Im wondering if theyre just gonna raise the level of monsters in all areas for players, and not actually introduce a lot of new material. At least, thats how Im seeing this. I dont play anymore, so I guess im just griping now, lol. _________________ [This is a temporary signature placeholder, until I can find something to go here!]

I'm guessing Scholar is going to get the enmity management spells to go along with Libra.

No. Light and Dark have always had the chance to double the Skillchain damage for any job. You just see it on SAM because Light and Dark are all they do, and they do it often. SAM does not have a "Skillchain Bonus" job trait.
Nothing for PLD, and nothing for RNG either.
Honestly I was disappointed in the last RNG and DRG updates. DRG got a new jump (Spirit Jump) last update, but its on the same timer as Jump. So you use one or the other, not both.
RNG got a JA that occasionally doubled the ammo used for double the damage, but its on the same timer as Unlimited Shot. So again, one or the other, but not both.
If they do this with Ninja for the new Ninjutsu, I'll be happy. Using Ut:San with the same timer as Ut:Ichi would be nice.
Also, WHM getting Shield Defense Bonus as a trait? lol
RDM's get love, but not BLM's. I guess BLM's getting self-refresh with /RDM is enough love? lol _________________

Just a thought, but the new enmity spells could be for PLD to use with flash.
Also, sine last update level 78SAM has Skillchain Bonus as a job trait, gives +8% damage to Skillchains. _________________ I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and i'm all out of bubble gum! ~ Roddy Pipper

Lol, I got faced. I can understand why they give it to SAM based on the fact that they're the SC masters, but I must say that I didn't notice an 8% increase on my double dark damage when I hit 80...
Sorry Duna, I was wrong. :3 _________________

Right because giving THF the oportunity for someone that doesn't have the end all be all gear on thf to be something besides th4 makes it broken. THF with dw and zerk and da is the ideal thing for that job class. its just a matter of when they give thf the dw trait _________________

yeah, im kinda excited about that update!~ maybe thief's might actually get party invites again <.<
also squit from what i understand most ranger mains that i know are fairly happy with the new ja, unlimited shot isnt all that useful if you think about it, allows you to use your PPA or w/e special ammo your using once every 5 min? the up and down side of it is you gain back double tp and do double dammage with sam sub seems like rng can become just a big of a tp hog as sam.
down side is obviously more ammo consumed greater dps and thereby greater emity, and also greater emity due to more weapon skill spamage, then again if its eaiser to tp higher perhaps its more practical to try to use refulgent arrow at 200%? though most rangers ive been asking dont seem to gear for refuglent yet, that is to say they use sidewinder gear to perform it, since it doesnt have the acc down they can go a ton more str and rattk heavy. anyways seems ive gone on a long winded tangent now so with that i'll take my leave <.<
(ah right P.S.)
i wonder if refulgent arrow generates as much emity as sidewinder. _________________

Yea, and MNK with Zerk and Double attack is ideal too. In -most- cases, its also not used due to monk's squishiness (mayeh doesnt count). Im saying, think of the classes that dual wield, and have to sub NIN for it. Now they get SATA + Evasion bonus + Dual Wield + whatever else THF offers.
Please, for the future, dont jump down my throat for expressing my opinion, I dont jump down yours. _________________ [This is a temporary signature placeholder, until I can find something to go here!]
