i play it with all the settings turned up and the resolution at 1920x1080 the thing ive noticed that messes with the lag so much is not the AA but the buffer. if i do anything higher than resolution it lags oh so much. im running a ati 4870 and a amd phenom II x4 940. i think all u need is a 3.0 ghz dual core processor its mostly the vid card that is prolly slowing you down

The clock of the CPU doesn't even matter. A late generation Core 2 duo, Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 will work. A late generation Athlon 64 X2, Phenom, or Phenom II will also work. AMD CPUs are cheaper, Intel CPUs perform better.

The game, before effects are considered, seems to be a bit fill rate bound (hence the reason you actually get a pretty big jump in performance going from 1080p to 720p). This means a GPU will help a bit. On the ATI side, it appears the 4xxx and 5xxx series cards work well. I got my 5770 for $180. Counting in effects, some of them are GPU bound, and it appears some of them are, in fact, CPU bound.

I'm not sure about memory performance of the game since the majority of memory usage is likely to be on the GPU, but having more memory always helps. Memory is pretty cheap. Keep in mind, though, that if you run more than 3gb of memory, you have to run a 64 bit operating system. I run 4gb of memory.

I wouldn't worry about hard drive performance too much. This is going to affect the loading time of the game and, to a much lesser extent, zoning between regions.

Kinda off topic, but I will never overclock my CPU >_> Im too paranoid to do it. Scared Id overheat it and melt my processor.

4 cores of 3.2GHz works fine for me, kthx Very Happy

Necro Bump

I just ran this on my new PC for Gits and Shiggles, got a score of 6393 with a 14029ms load time.

New PC Specs:

Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor (4x 3.40GHz/8MB L3 Cache)

Asetek 550LC Liquid CPU Cooling System (Intel) - Enermax Silent High Performance Fan Upgrade

8 GB [2 GB X4] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Corsair

AMD Radeon HD 6850 - 1GB - Single Card === High Performance === XFX Brand Video Card

Motherboard ASUS P8P67 LE

750 GB HARD DRIVE -- 64M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s - Single Drive

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Now to wait for Mayeh to post his scores once he gets his new PC set up, his should be higher.
