Returned the memory last week. ^.^ So far (crosses fingers and toes), my computer problems seem to be resolved. We'll see how long it lasts.

And, winter has apparently finally arrived in NY.

Teenagers in Austin, Tex., ride a homemade sled constructed of two wakeboards, a plastic door, an insulation panel and four lawn chairs.

So this is how you deal with snow in Texas.

Yeah I'm in Austin also and I'm just annoyed that everyone is closing down shops for a lil ice and cold weather like it's the next ice age.

Now my internets isn't working Sad I went home last night to find it was completely down. After hanging up on a Charter technician who told me to turn my ethernet cable around and argued with me after I said that's freaking absurd, I called back and actually got a halfway intelligent technician. He insists it's a firewall problem, but reluctantly schedules a field technician visit. To this day, I have yet to figure out HOW my home network behind a router and modem affects my modem's ability to connect to the provider. I'm sorry but when my perfectly fine network appears to show no problems, I hate having it questioned when the MODEM shows NO LINK with the PROVIDER.

I'm done with Charter. In the meantime, I have to wait until Wednesday before they can fix it (IF they can fix it), and maybe longer for another service provider. The modem is connecting now, but the SNR indicated on the modem shows lots of noise so the connection is extremely unstable.

Finally got that bracket in and I am now posting from my computer. I'm running some cpu intensive stuff to burn it in for a few days to get the heatsink working well with the thermal grease. Already the cpu only runs at 42C at full load (2 threads since it's dual core). The idle temp is actually around 29C Smile It wasn't this low before on the now broken bracket. It was a lot tighter fit. The new one seems to fit the heatsink better. Maybe this was needed all around. It could also be the cold weather, heh.
